Simple and Sweet Happy Birthday – With VIDEO!

Sometimes, you just need a simple and sweet birthday card. Right?

I created this quick beauty for my lovely daughter. It came together so quickly because I used the Catherine Pooler birthday bundle set. The amazing dotted background and the bold and big cake for the center. Easy and perfect all in one!

To create the perfect stripes, I used the Mod Strips Cover Plate. It’s nothing short of amazing. Perfect strips… every time. It’s my new favorite.

I made a video of this card creation, because it was so fun and easy! WATCH THE VIDEO!

For the candle, I used some of my handmade cardstock (from an unused mod strip) and then stamped the image in gray on top. I like the look! Add a few sparkles from a matching set of CP sequins (Paisley Park) and voila – beautiful birthday card!

A Stencil and Three Cards

Where do you go when you are looking for crafty inspiration? I have to admit that I don’t have to go far… my crafty world is all in one place – StampNation. And, it was a post in that community that had me getting out the stencils!

I love this stencil (Faceted Slimline) so much. I knew I wanted to use it right away for this challenge. It’s a slimline size stencil, so it didn’t fill my whole A2 size card, but I didn’t mind. You can’t see it very well in this picture, but I used the white space on the left to add some score lines for interest. I love how simple and fun this card turned out! I stamped the floral image first and then stenciled on top of the whole panel. This image and sentiment are from a previous Club Sursee.

So I kept going with the stencil… and went with another set I have loved since it came out last spring. This was a Club Sursee set and I just adore it. What a wonderful message. and the floral wreath. I just love all of it. I’m not sure if this is quite available or not. It might be sold out. Sometimes the Club Sursee products are available after the monthly club shipments go out.

I cut the wreath out and placed it on top of the stenciled area. I actually cut around the sentiment piece, too, but when it’s in the center, it kind of blends in as the shining focus of the card. I love that! I colored the flowers and leaves with CP inks and a water brush, just not using a lot of the water since this wasn’t water color paper. It worked just fine! You could also use one of those colorless blender pens, if you have one. Sequins for the middle of the flowers and then this one was all set!

I also created a softer version of this type of card… and this time, I stenciled in the middle of the flower wreath without cutting out the center part. I think it worked out okay. A bit simpler and less dimension. I used two colors inside the flowers on this one. And added sequins around the edging instead of in the flowers.

So, what do you think? Stencil fun and excitement for three cards? Yes for me!
